How to use Proxy

Click Managing in the menu, then Try Proxy under Status on a page that isn’t loading. Proxy is an optional add-on on the Scale subscription plan and higher. Results are not guaranteed — some sites still will not load. Background on blocked pages: Fetch status.

When to use it

  • Use it when a page stays blocked or shows a challenge instead of the content.
  • A page that is simply not found does not offer Try Proxy. Those pages appear under Broken links.
  • A page waiting on robots.txt does not offer Try Proxy until you authorize it. See Robots.txt.

Turn it on

  • Click Managing in the menu — see Monitoring.
  • On a page that isn’t loading, click Try Proxy under Status, then confirm Enable Proxy. The page is fetched again.
  • The Proxy column then shows On. Use Turn off in that column when you no longer need it.
  • If the link says Proxy on Scale+, Proxy is not included on your current plan. See Billing and account.
  • If the link says Proxy may help, you need a free slot first. Open Managing → Manage account → Billing and use Proxy slots.

Slots and what you pay

  • A slot is one URL that may use Proxy at the same time. You are not billed for a slot you have not turned on.
  • You pay only when a Proxy check succeeds, up to $1.50 per URL per month. Failed attempts are free.
  • Usage is billed in $0.50 steps. An amount under $0.50 carries to the next bill.
  • Pausing the URL turns Proxy off and frees the slot. See Monitoring.
  • If a URL has no successful Proxy check for about 120 days, Proxy turns off and the slot is freed.
  • If your monitoring plan drops below Scale, Proxy pauses. Your slots and settings are kept, and Proxy resumes if you return to Scale or a higher plan. See Billing and account.
